The Boynton Beach inlet is a perfect spot for beginner paddlers since the area has a small beach on the intracoastal side to launch from, which is also dog-friendly and the Intracoastal waters are fairly calm. You can paddle to a man-made sandbar called “Beercan Island,” where boaters gather on weekends and holidays. This is a favorite paddleboarding spot for locals where you may meet other paddlers and boats who hang out in the crystal clears waters in the area.

A man-made island, this spot gained the name Beercan Island after boaters left their empty beer cans behind over the years, which covered the ocean floor. Thanks to Salty Dog Paddle pulling out over 1 ton of beer cans in this area between 2015-2019, the sandbar is now a bird and marinelife sanctuary. Boaters still head to Beer Can Island for low tide and cool off in the six-inch-deep water. The mouth of the Boynton Inlet, leading out to sea, is strikingly close by, so watching the parade of ocean going traffic can be a sight to see.

This spot is dog-friendly since dogs are allowed at the park where we launch from and can play in the shallow waters of Beercan Island.
