Part time volunteer accountant for public animal charity to become Treasurer of the Board of Directors
In this capacity you will be working under the interim Treasurer who is a financial / tax lawyer.
Must be proficient at Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in business or have 5 years’ experience as a full-time accountant / financial analyst or Director for a nonprofit organization.
5 hours of volunteering per month will be required.
Duties
Transfer accountings from monthly events and fundraisers to P&L statements. Event accountings are calculated and maintained by Executive Director.
Maintain balance sheet and income statement on monthly basis.
Export sales and donation data from Square merchant account – exportable to CSV
Report financials to Board of Directors at quarterly board meetings
File 990EZ taxes and four schedules by April 31st 2019 with IRS
- For that filing – decide how income for the charity is realized i.e. program service revenue or donations.
- Decide whether merchandise sales are part of program service revenue or goods sold.
- Decide if expenses are related to the organization itself or to specific events/fundraisers.
